“I thought my original deck was pretty nice...but the product Kirk delivered was far superior.”

“Kirk just finished updating two 35-year-old porches and one large deck for me. The quality of his work and attention to detail was top notch. here's how we work

What to Expect Build for Your Deck, Patio, or Porch Project

Making sure you love it for the long-haul

Once complete, we’ll walk the space together to make sure everything meets expectations. Once you’ve had time to fully settle in, we’ll follow up a few months later to make sure it’s exactly as you imagined!

Final Walkthrough & Follow-Up

Construction is underway

We communicate regularly so you always know what’s happening and why. Projects are managed on a cost-plus basis, with transparent tracking of materials, subcontractors, and labor — allowing flexibility when real-life changes inevitably pop up.

Hammer Down

Final Selections and Cost-Plus Construction Agreement

Once preliminary estimate is approved & deposit is paid

It’s time for pre-construction planning. Final design selections are made, showroom visits are coordinated if needed, any numbers are fine-tuned, and final job-site logistics are locked in – so construction kicks off with a smooth start!

Preliminary Estimate Development & Delivery

Typically deliver in 3-4 weeks of the walkthrough

Rather than quick ballpark pricing, we take a deeper dive to develop accurate pricing early on. That means reviewing scope in detail, assessing trades when needed, and talking through early design and finish choices that impact cost the most.

Setting clear expectations up front.

After the walkthrough, we’ll outline a preconstruction agreement and fee based on your project’s scope and complexity. This covers the time and expertise that go into thoughtful planning and estimate development (and it’s applied to your project if you move forward with us).

Pre-Construction Agreement

We see the space, you meet the team.

We’ll walk the space together to review existing conditions, logistics, and possibilities. This is where early ideas start taking shape and you get a feel for how we think, plan, and approach projects.

Walkthrough & Project Vision

Let’s make sure we’re a good fit.

You’ll start by filling out our inquiry form and scheduling a call to chat. We’ll talk through your goals, timeline, priorities, and answer early questions. If it feels right on both sides, we’ll schedule an on-site walkthrough.

let's get to work
Does Trex get hot in the summer?

Like any deck material, Trex can get warm in direct sunlight! But newer Trex colors feature heat-mitigating technology that helps keep the surface cooler than traditional composites. Their shell technology is designed to reflect heat rather than absorb it, so while darker colors will still warm up in full sun, they stay noticeably cooler than older composite materials. Lighter colors perform even better if heat is a concern. And once you step into shade or the sun goes down, Trex cools off quickly. Adding an umbrella, pergola, or strategically placed furniture also makes a big difference.

Is Trex slippery when wet?

Trex is designed with slip resistance in mind. Trex has a textured surface that provides grip even in rain or around pools. That said, like any outdoor surface, leaves, algae, or debris can create slippery spots if left sitting, but overall, Trex is one of the safer deck surfaces out there!

Why should I choose Trex over wood?

We love this question! Trex composite decking outperforms wood in almost every way. It won't rot, warp, crack, or splinter (even in harsh New England weather). You'll never need to stain, seal, or sand it. Just spray it down once or twice a year and you're done.

And because we're a TrexPro contractor, we specialize in Trex installation and guide you through their different product lines. The upfront cost is higher than wood, but when you factor in zero maintenance and a 25-50 year warranty on the products, plus a labor warranty due to our TrexPro status, it's a win-win!

Do you think I can pull off a DIY deck build?

Possibly! Decks are one of the more approachable DIY projects if you're handy and willing to do your homework. That said, there's still a lot to be mindful of. Footings need to be done right, framing has to meet code, and improper ledger board attachment (where the deck connects to your house) is a common issue that can lead to safety problems.

If you're confident in your skills and committed to doing it right, it's doable. But if you're on the fence or this is your first big build, our consulting services can help you figure out if it's realistic for your situation - and make sure you're not setting yourself up for expensive fixes later.
